In vitro evaluation of THC inhalation performance using regulated and commercial vaping technologies
This study compares the in vitro performance of the BIKY Breathe medical device to that of a commercial vape pen for the inhaled administration of THC. The tested formulations produce submicron particles (MMAD 0.89–0.99 μm; FPF 99–100%), suitable for deep lung deposition. Both devices have comparable THC transfer efficiency (45–54%), but the BIKY Breathe delivers significantly more consistent aerosol mass and respirable doses. These results constitute a first step for future pharmacokinetic and clinical studies.

Aerosol delivery of salbutamol and terbutaline via a CE-marked medical vaping device: aerosol characterization and transfer efficiency compared to nebulization
This study evaluates the performance of the BIKY Breathe Battery medical device (CE marked) for the administration of bronchodilators (salbutamol and terbutaline) in comparison to nebulization. The device produces highly reproducible aerosols with a diameter of approximately 1µm, compatible with deep lung deposition. If terbutaline displays excellent transfer efficiency of approximately 40%, among the highest reported, salbutamol remains limited by physicochemical constraints of approximately 10%. These results demonstrate the potential of medical aerosolization systems to deliver active ingredients in a precise and controlled manner.
